Solo in Public

Solo in Public is a contemporary ready-to-wear label defined by relaxed silhouettes and the materials that shape them. Founded by Ryan Lawson, each piece is developed through a fabric-first approach — where ease and precision are held in equal measure.

Craft

Each piece begins with the cloth. Solo in Public draws from European mills with long relationships to the houses — materials selected for weight, drape, and how they move over time. Production is entrusted to family-run workshops in Italy, where knowledge of the craft has passed between generations without interruption. The scale is small by design. The same hands that cut a garment finish it. The result is clothing that does not perform luxury. It simply holds it.

Design

The clothes are cut for ease. Relaxed through the body, precise at the seam — silhouettes shaped by both Milan and Los Angeles without belonging entirely to either. Solo in Public was built on the idea that Italian craft and Californian living are not in opposition. The result is a quieter way of dressing. Unhurried and made to last.

Materials

We prioritise longevity. Solo in Public works exclusively with artisan workshops that have built their practice over generations — chosen for how they work. Small runs. Considered materials. No excess. The garments are made to be kept, not replaced.
